【摘要】:Notallwatercontainedinasaturatedsoilcanberemovedbygravitydrainage.Theamountofwaterretainedaftergravitydrainageisusuallyexpressedaswaterholdingcapacityorspecificretention.Itvarieswithtime,andwiththeparticle-sizedistributionandplasticityofthesoil(ingeneral,increasinginvaluewithincreasingplasticityindex).Ingeneral,thecentrifugemoistureequivalentisbasedonthetheoryofapplyingacentrifugalforcegreatenoughtoreducethecapillaryfringezoneenoughthatitcanbeignoredwithoutintroducingmucherror,eveninsmallspecimens,andyetnotsogreatastowithdrawalargeproportionofthewaterthatisheldsecurelyabovethecapillaryfringe.Forexample,ifasoilwillholdwater100mmbycapillarityactingagainstgravity,thesoilwilltheoreticallybeabletoholdthewateronly0.1mmagainstacentrifugalforcethatis1000timesgreaterthantheforceofgravity.Ithasbeendeterminedthatforatleastmedium-texturedsoils(sandytosiltyparticle-sizedistribution)thecentrifugemoistureequivalentapproximatesthewaterholdingcapacityandwhencombinedwiththebulkdensitycanbeusedtocalculateanapproximatespecificretentionandspecificyield.Thesepropertieswhencombinedwithporositycanbeusedtoestimateaquiferstoragecoefficient.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthemoistureequivalentofsoilinthelaboratorybymeansofacentrifugetechnique.1.2Thistestmethodislimitedtodisturbedspecimensofcoarse-grainedsoilshavingfinesoflowplasticitysuchasSP,SW,SC-SM,orSMsoils.Thetestislimitedtosoilspassingthe2.00-mmsieveorthatfractionofasoilpassinga2.00-mmsieve.Note18212;TestMethodD3152orTestMethodD2325shouldbeusedtoevaluatethecapillary-moisturerelationsoffine-grainedsoilsandcoarse-grainedsoilshavingfinesofmediumtohighplasticity,undisturbedsoils,andsoilsatspecificdesiredunitsweights.1.3Thetestmethodistemperature-dependent,andconsistentcomparableresultscanbeobtainedonlyifthetestsareperformedunderaconstant-temperaturecondition.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
